I am Radhika Punetha, currently studying in AS Levels of Nahar International School. I have always recognised myself as an Art student. Since a very young age I’ve had an interest in Arts- performance and visual both. My parents acknowledged my talent and creative bent of mind and got me to learn many skills such as drawing, painting, Kathak dance and Indian Classical Music. Now that I was sure of my interests and had gained the skills, I had decided to look for careers in Fine Arts in Grade 10. However my confused and hesitant mind led me to try out Univariety.
Univariety and Promap have been really helpful in every aspect of choosing a career. The psychometric tests helped me discover a new, logical and stronger side of me, which was really beneficial in choosing my course. I researched about various colleges of both Arts and Design as suggested by my counsellor, Muskaan Ma’am, who described my personality on point by looking at the psychometric tests just on our first counselling session. Slowly and steadily, we started discovering more design related careers like graphic designing, product designing and animation, and I realised that these would be better options for me in the long term. Since I am a mix of a very organized and logical but creative person, these degrees suited me the best and it’s true that I love working on graphics on my laptop. Me and my parents searched for an ample of colleges in India in the 50 days of Promap session and we were in awe of what the colleges have to offer. By the end, I felt so confident with the choice that I made.
I have decided to do the Graphic design and Animation course now. I am aiming for NID currently, although Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and IIT Bombay are included in my list of Top 3 colleges. I will work on building a portfolio and CV now with the help of the Roadmap laid for me by Promap and the Art and Design classes in school. I have to say, Univariety, Promap and especially Muskaan Ma’am have helped me a long way. I never thought of going into this field before, but Ma’am and my parents have so much confidence in me, and therefore that builds my confidence and I don’t want to let them down.
